Beard transplant

What is beard transplant good for?

A rich, vigorous beard has become a defining element of today's fashion, which can serve as a wedge for a man's face. Its absence can be at least as disturbing as the loss of hair. Hair transplantation performed using the FUE2 (Follicular Unit Extraction) Safe System technique is suitable for replacing or thickening the beard, which can be used to enhance masculine self-confidence.

How does a transplant work?

The hairs are extracted using FUE2 (Follicular Unit Extraction) Safe System technology per hair follicle unit - considering the degree of lack of eyebrows - from the back and sides of the head, the armpits, or a combination of both areas. The extraction is done with a 0.6-0.8 mm micro circular punch.

In a unique way in Hungary, the size of the needle diameter is chosen based on individual characteristics.

In the case of beard transplantation, we specifically target the single-hair-grafts, and for this reason we use the smallest possible diameter punch during the operation, thus ensuring a natural result. The punch size is adjusted during the operation depending on the strength of the hairs so that the surgical area heals without a trace. Our basic principle is that for a truly aesthetic hair transplant, great emphasis must also be placed on preserving the integrity of the donor area.

How long is a procedure?

The duration of the procedure depends on the strength, color and density of the hairs, as well as the number of extracted and transplanted hairs. A beard transplantation can take one day if only small spots of the beard are lacking hair, but it can take up to two days if the entire beard hair needs replacement, from the mustache to the sideburns. In all cases, we assess the condition of the beard during a preliminary medical consultation and prepare an individual therapy plan.

How successful is a transplant?

At least 90% of transplanted hairs last a lifetime. At our clinic, we guarantee a successful result.

How much does such an intervention hurt?

The operation is performed under local anesthesia. Anesthetic injections can be uncomfortable due to the rich innervation of the facial skin, but after that initial unpleasantness, the procedure is completely painless.

What does a surgery look like?

  • Arrival at the clinic at the agreed time
  • Read and sign information sheets, contracts, and declarations of consent
  • Brief discussion of the process of the intervention
  • Blood pressure measurement, premedication
  • Haircut, beard planning, photography
  • Extraction (of grafts (hair units)) in a prone position or in case of body hair surgery in the supine position under local anesthesia
  • Lunch break
  • Preparation of receiving sites, implantation of grafts (lying on the back) under local anesthesia
  • Photography
  • Discussing what to do in the post-surgery period, handing over the care package

What to do after surgery?

Aftercare at home after surgery is crucial for maintaining the new facial hair!

Regeneration is fast, you can return to work after a few days, but for 3 weeks after the operation you must avoid sweating, sports, physical work, you must not bend, lift weights, smoke, steam, dust must not touch the scalp, you must not smoke. Furthermore, for 7-10 days, activities involving large facial movements and facial expressions should be avoided, and the consumption of mushy foods is also recommended.

The surgical area must be cleaned intensively for one week after the procedure. The implanted area must be sprayed every 2 hours for 3 days with the solution received on the day of surgery. From the 4th day, you should soak the implanted area with shampoo foam twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, until the one-week check-up. Then, you can return to a normal hair washing routine. After 1 month, you can return to your pre-intervention routine. The new beard can be treated in the same way as in its original place, it can be cut, dyed, etc.

Are there side effects?

Swelling (oedema) and bruising may occur in the implanted area, which may extend to the eye area, but will be absorbed without a trace in 3-4 days. In order to absorb the swelling as soon as possible, in the first three days it is worth resting as much as possible lying down. A mild fever may rarely occur, if necessary, an antipyretic can be taken. Itching may occur as the wound heals! Moistening the area can relieve complaints.

After the procedure, the surgical areas may be irritated and sensitive, and a hypersensation may also occur. The possible nature, extent and duration of this side effect varies from person to person and can last from a few weeks to even months.

Some inflammation of hair follicles and acne may appear on the skin. In such cases, the spontaneous healing may be speeded up by massaging with your fingertips.

Will the transplanted eyebrow hair fall out first?

The transplanted hair carries its original properties, hair from the scalp grows faster, the body hair slower, but both grow at a higher rate than natural eyebrow hair. For this reason, it is recommended to trim the transplanted hair regularly and shape it for an aesthetic appearance.

FAQ

What can cause beard loss?
In most cases, it is a congenital phenomenon, many men's beard hair is genetically deficient to a greater or lesser extent. Some skin diseases can also cause lack of beard.
How does beard transplantation work?
We work with own hair or sometimes body hair. The hair follicles located in the back and side regions of the scalp are extracted and implanted in the pre-marked facial areas at an appropriate angle and density.
Is the result long-lasting?
The transplanted hair follicles remain strong and viable in their new place for a lifetime.
Is it possible to extract without leaving scars behind in the donor area?
Yes! In the case of eyebrow transplantation, we use the smallest possible punch and extract the one-hair-grafts, so the donor area heals without a trace.
When will the beard transplant have a viable result?
We usually have a partial aesthetic result already in 5-6th month, but we see a final result 10-12 months after the procedure.
Is it enough to have only one beard transplant?
It depends on the degree of beard loss. One intervention may be sufficient, but in some cases, due to the extent of the deficiency, thickening surgery may be necessary, which is usually a smaller intervention than the first.
Does beard transplant hurt?
The operation is performed under local anesthesia. Anesthetic injections can be uncomfortable due to the rich innervation of the facial skin, but after that initial unpleasantness, the procedure is completely painless.
How should one prepare for surgery?
A laboratory test is required before the intervention, there is nothing else to do. It is no longer recommended to drink coffee directly before surgery, but the medications you are taking must be taken in any case. It is recommended to shave a couple of days before the procedure, so that there is a a couple mm long facial hair on the day of the operation so that we can clearly see the missing areas.
What should be done after surgery?
Regeneration is fast, you can return to work after a few days, but for 3 weeks after the operation, you must avoid sweating, sports, physical work, you must not bend, lift weights, or smoke. Furthermore, for 7-10 days, activities involving intensive facial movements and expressions should be avoided. From the 4th day, you should soak the implanted area with shampoo foam twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, until the one-week check-up.
When can I return to my pre-surgery routine?
On the 10th day, the hair follicles are embedded, after which one can return to their normal routine with caution. Activities involving strong sweating can be performed again 3-4 weeks after the intervention and the new eyebrow can then be treated in the same way as in its original place, it can be shaped, dyed, etc.
